I cannot stress enough how much I love not having social media. My creative juices are flowing, I have infinitely more time, less worries about negative things, my attention span is growing, my critical thinking skills are back, and I could keep going. I downloaded Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok in high school, and I deleted them about a year or two ago. You might think I have FOMO or have less friends because of this, but I am here to say you’re mistaken. I make plans often so I can catch up in person with friends/family, and maybe my “friend” count has dropped, but it has only revealed the real ones.
There is something so satisfying about living without social media. I don’t worry about Becky and John and who unfollowed who or she did what, etc. My thoughts and actions are centered around me and my ecosystem. Since I am a finance major and like to stay current with world affairs, I do read the Wall Street Journal but I think that elevates my thoughts, it doesn’t lower them.
